Basic Public Information Guide
The Basic PI Guide was created by the former WSC
Public Information Committee to help a growing fellowship
outside the United States and the English speaking countries
that had access to the information contained in A Guide To
Public Information.
History
At the 1992 WSC in Dallas, Texas, a mass
protest by non-North American regions resulted in the discussion
that we (the WSC) was not serving the world wide fellowship as
well as we HAD thought. This was the inspiration for the
WSC PI Committee, led by Susan B and Tony W, to create the
"PIG" as some fondly called it. Erik R and Joe Y lead the
members of the committee to create the "PIG" at the WSC held in
Atlanta, Georgia, in 1994.
Because of the introduction of the Public Relations
Handbook, World Services has pulled this resource off the
na.org website. Replacing it will be the "Quick Start
Guide" from the PR Handbook. As of this editing date
(March 29, 2009), it is
not available but the link is
http://na.org/?ID=PR-under_dev.

Did You Know:
That the WSC PI Committee had a hard time convincing
leadership of the WSC that we needed to do this work.
We had just entered the "Inventory" period of World Services
as a prelude to the 1998 re-configuration of the committees
of the Conference.
We had to find "sponsors"
on the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors to
convince the "leadership" that what we were doing was right.
Dr Bob, who passed away in 2006, was our best friend on the BOD as was Garth P on the BOT (Garth is still alive down
under).
